The Center for European Studies and UF Spanish Lecturers Caridad Jiménez and Kathy Dwyer-Navajas successfully designed and led this year’s Language Teacher Summer Institute (LTSI) from July 13- 24. The Center (CES) has funded this program since 2005. Nine high school and middle school foreign language teachers from around the state of Florida attended a two-week intensive course with Cari and Kathy, where they learned how to better utilize new technologies in their classrooms. Highlights from this year’s institute include a dynamic live Skype session with Kate Paesani, the author of the LTSI textbook, A Multiliteracies Framework for Collegiate Foreign Language Teaching, engaging final presentations from this year’s participants, and a rousing conversation between LTSI participants and the director of the Center for European Studies, Dr. Alice Freifeld.
